Franciscan Covenant Community Begins
December 1, 2008
724 Adams & South 8th Apartment A in the back
Quincy, IL
On Monday night, December 1st 2008, the Quincy University community made history. A small band of four set out for the south side to begin a new ministry adventure. The four first members of the Quincy University community gathered in prayer and a meal on the south side of Quincy, IL. They are Stacy Hankins, Kevin Johnson, Audra Turnbull and Brother Ed Arambasich, OFM. The name of the faith based (house church) community is called the Franciscan Covenant Community. Its main purpose is to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ rooted in the life of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi.

The community will gather once a week at the FCC community house located above the Living Room at South 8th and Adams Streets (in the back upstairs). The evening will begin with a supper, followed by prayer and faith sharing. Then the community shares its talents in some kind of Outreach within the neighborhood. Our first outreach will be with the Parish School of Religion at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School.
In the spring we hope to begin an intramural basketball and soft ball program that would take place in the early evenings. We would be working with kids in the neighbor who need role models with good and healthy sportsmanship attitudes.

If anyone is interested in becoming a member of the FCC community, please contact anyone above who was mentioned.
Our positive challenge to you is to be filled with the gospel and to step out of your comfort zone, step out of the box into the turbulent waters of surprise! We dare you to step out into deep water and share your talents with others.

We are looking for the following creative volunteers: If you have been blessed with gifts such as criminal justice, accounting, nursing, social work, theology, math, music, special education, English then come and share your knowledge with this FCC community of people that is in need of your gifts!
Peace and all good,
The Franciscan Covenant Community |
